Eco – Warrior Sculpture

The grade 8 classes have researched the work of famous environmentalists and their efforts to clean up our world. As homage to these good simaritans, students are learning slip-cast mold making to produce a sculpture as monument to the ‘Eco-Warriors’ of today. Students first inquired about types of environmental issues, the people working to solve problems related to those issues, and selected one as their Eco-Warrior. Next they created the box which will be the mold for their statue. In the coming weeks, they will sculpt from clay a mini statue of their Eco-Warrior, make a cast mold of that statue, then produce a final cast figure sculpture from their mold.
