Message from the Principal, Term 1, Week 3

Dear Senior School Parents and Guardians,

There is always something happening in the SSIS Senior School and this week is no exception.

This weekend, we have our Grade 11 and 12 students camping over in school for their annual DP camp. Led by Ms. Erica NEAL, our CAS Coordinator, students have worked hard to plan and organise for this overnighter. Not forgetting our Student Councillors who will also be staying over, together with Mr. Nilan SENARATNA and his team of teachers.

All these event cannot happen without the dedication and passion of our teachers to develop your child to their fullest capabilities.

For the first Coffee Morning of the school year, we welcomed a large turnout of parents – a mixture of new SSIS parents and many familiar faces. It was really heart-warming to see parents from different divisions coming together to celebrate our wonderful IGCSE and IB results. A highlight was Andrew BULLA who scored a perfect 10 A* for the recent IGCSE Examinations. Congratulations! SSIS is proud of you!

Upcoming dates:

Sept. 12: Visit by Dr. Sam STEVENS (Chemistry Professor from University of Exeter)

Sept. 13: SSIS University Tour and Grade 12 IB Parent Information Night

Sept. 14: Meet Mr Nils Sundin (Senior Assistant Director, Office of Undergraduate Admissions from New York University)

Sept. 18-22: Autumn Excursions/G12 Incursion

Sept. 25-29: ASP Session 2 Registration

Oct. 2-Oct. 6 National Day Holidays

This is a gentle reminder that next week, we will be conducting our Fire Drill exercise. Students have been reminded to treat the exercise seriously and evacuate out of the building in an orderly and quiet manner. Should you be in the school when the drill takes place, please remain calm and seek assistance from our school staff who will guide you to the nearest assembly area.
