29 Universities Visit SSIS This Week!

This week has been a very busy one for us here at the Counselling Department with 29 different universities coming to visit our students!

Highlights were on Tuesday Dr. Sam Stevens from the University of Exeter who came and gave lecture to our Grade 11 IBDP students on how to succeed in university Chemistry. Dr. Stevens was very impressed with the caliber of questions from our SSIS students and really enjoyed meeting with students and staff.

Also on Tuesday Mr. Tom Whittaker from the University of British Columbia came to visit SSIS. He gave a half hour talk to students on UBC-which is always a very popular destination for SSIS students.

On Wednesday the CIS Asia Tour 2017 was here with 24 different university admission officers. Students from Grade 7 to 12 were able to ask lots of questions   and find out more about what they are looking for in a future university. This was our second CIS University Tour visit this year (the first was in March) and we look forward to maintaining and growing our relationship with CIS universities in the future.

On Thursday Nils Sundin the Senior Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions of New York University (NYU) visited our school and was able to meet with several SSIS students and answer their questions about the university application process. Our small group of students were really were lucky to have Mr. Sundin visit our campus as he normally is only able to talk to much larger groups of students.

Finally on Friday we rounded out the week with a visit from Mr Carl Tan the manager of the International Affairs Office of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The Counselling Office makes it a priority to try and get admission officers to visit our school because the more they know our students and school the better it helps our students chances of getting admitted. So a busy week but one that we are certain will help our students in the future!
