Message from Campus Principal, Term 1, Week 12

Dear SSIS Parents,

ACAMIS Volleyball Black Division

Our boys and girls teams brought the SSIS Sabre spirit alive during the last day of the games last weekend. The indoor gym was ringing with the coordinated cheering and loud claps of the young and old supporters. We ultimately emerged 2nd for the boys and the girls did us proud too. Good job to all – players, coaches, especially Mr. Nilan Senaratna and Mr. Randy Limon who have tirelessly done this for the past 4-5 years and all other staff for supporting in one way or another! Let’s go, Sabres!

Student of the Week:

KIMIZONO, Tatsuhiro Max       Grade 12 Ruby

The ASP student of the week has been given to Max in Grade 12. He has been a dedicated member of our Sabre volleyball team and exceeded the leadership expectations of a senior player.

At our recent ACAMIS tournament, not one, but two schools went out of their to way to tell our SSIS staff how outstanding his actions were. They said he went above and beyond to help them with a need and then another said he was extremely welcoming and caring. Max did not have a hosting role that required him to do any of these things but he took them on with a smile.

The awards ceremony of the tournament revealed a new type of recognition as Max was awarded the All Tournament Player Award along with one more teammate. The t-shirt and medal was given based on votes from the opposing teams. Looks like SSIS values your Sabre dedication but we are not the only ones seeing that talent!

Congratulations to Max and his team for their hard-earned second place trophy in the tournament. In the big team huddle after the last point was scored, you could see Max in the middle motivating his team. He said the position didn’t matter and asked everyone, “Did you have fun?” The cheers, smiles and really loud “YES!!” was the happy response. Max made SSIS proud as an ambassador and he was an excellent leader with both skill and sportsmanship for the whole tournament.
