Students of The Week
Sanya Sehgal (Pearl 1) and Diya Dinesh (Amber 1)
Sanya and Diya are this year’s Science Fair winners, the pair has shown commendable talent and natural flair in carrying out scientific investigation independently. They also have demonstrated a willingness to work hard in order to overcome challenges that they have faced along the way. Sanya and Diya have primarily chosen a topic that is timely and can potentially address some of the environmental issues that the world is experiencing due to the deteriorating air quality around the globe. Their investigation focuses on pollution masks and their ability to filter unwanted substance like carbon monoxide. The investigation has not only discussed the nature of air pollution but also how our current technology can be used to solve environmental problems in order to save the lives of many people. Sanya and Diya have also demonstrated talent for organization, commitment and determination to complete the challenge. Their project has definitely caught the attention of their fellow students and teachers to be adjudged as the grand winner of this year’s Science Fair competition. Below is the reflection from Sanya and Diya about science fair.
“The science fair was actually quite fun! In the beginning, it seemed a bit scary as we couldn’t think of good ideas as fast as others but when we finally did find one topic, we had a vision that this topic was really going to work out for us. As the project went on, there were some small issues that we came across along the way but we found our way through them with the help of our teacher, Mr. Randy. We were beginning to develop more interest in our topic and everything was becoming more fun. The experiment was the most anticipated part as this was the point where all our planning was going to come to life. When the time came to paste things on our display board, we had a few difficulties but we overcame them and our end result looked quite good. Overall, this was a great learning experience for us and really broadened our scientific knowledge. We are really proud to have won the science fair, but in the end, it is the whole learning process that is dear to us more than the title of the winner.”
