Message from Campus Principal, Term 3, Week 7

Dear Senior School Parents,

Thank you very much to all our parents and our generous PSG for organizing the Teacher Appreciation Lunch on Wednesday. It was a fabulous spread and the food was so delicious.

Jeans For Tai Shi – 18 May 2018
As part of our SSIS Community Project, we are helping our partner school – TAI SHI SCHOOL in Jia Xing, we will be launching our second fund-raising event. On their wish list is a much-needed movable stage. We are hoping to raise about 10 000 RMB as a school. Therefore, Senior School Student Council is organising Jeans For Tai Shi where staff and all the students from Senior School and Primary divisions can donate a minimum of 10 RMB to purchase a Jeans for Tai Shi sticker which entitles one to wear denim for a day to show our support.

Sports Awards Night – 18 May 2018
Our annual Sports Awards Celebration will be hosted next Friday, May 18th in the SSIS Gymnasium. This celebratory evening recognizes our SISAC and ACAMIS athletes, both individual and team awards will be presented throughout.

Our ceremony starts at 5:30 pm and promises a line up of performances, sharing of team challenges & successes and lots of Sabre red and blue, including a light dinner & snacks.  We do hope that the parents of our sports athletes will join us as it will definitely be a memorable evening.

End of Year Examinations
While the IB and IGCSE Examinations are going on for the Grade 10 and 12 students, the rest of our students are preparing for their end of year examinations.
You can help your child prepare and revise for these exams with these essential pointers:

Make sure your child:
1. Sticks to regular bedtimes so he/she is consistently getting enough sleep.
2. Draws up a structured revision programme that covers all the key subjects and topics covered in his/her course.
3. Avoids distractions – this is challenging! Try to ignore the TV and other distractions. It is a good idea to turn off his/her phone when he/she revises, as well.
4. Limits the amount of time he/she spends playing games or watching videos on his/her devices.
5. Attends the revision sessions and never be worried in regards to asking about something he/she does not understand – the teachers are there to help them.

Complimentary School Uniform – Online Order:
This is a gentle reminder that the online complimentary uniform ordering website ( will close on 15th May 2018.

Student of the week:

Xin Yen HOO
G7 Ruby

Xin Yen HOO is a gifted student of Mathematics. In a recent project in the Math class, Xin Yen was required to overlay mathematical shapes on a photo of her face to show how the human face can be reproduced by using polygons. Xin Yen did an excellent job and was able to accurately recreate the human face and determine estimates for area and perimeter.

She is very adept with THINKING critically, COMMUNICATING effectively, and REFLECTING deeply.

Well done Xin Yen HOO
