Message from Campus Principal, Term 3, Week 11

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very restful summer holiday and I look forward to meeting you again on Friday 17th August for ‘Orientation Day’.

This coming week will be a full of goodbyes and celebrations. We had a wonderful graduation ceremony and we wish all of our Grade 12 graduates the best of luck as they move on to their chosen university. They are a true representation of everything we stand for here at SSIS. They are kind, hardworking young people, all with unique personalities and a great sense of humour. They are a credit to the school and an inspiration to us all. The successes and achievements they have attained here at SSIS clearly show the skill, high expectations and commitment of both the staff and students.  These graduates are great examples of what we hope for from all our students. We wish each and every graduate a relaxing, enjoyable and safe summer.

On Monday we have our Prize giving ceremony. If your child does not receive a prize this year, please encourage them in their effort and persistence. It is through this perseverance the victories will come. Identify all the achievements they have had, and set goals, so when they turn their hearts and minds towards next year, they are set up for success – there is much to celebrate!

To all the Prize giving winners; congratulations on your achievements and we look forward to seeing you build on your success in the future – well done!

This will be my final Newsletter for the 2017/18 academic year. Next year the current IBDP coordinator Doruk Gurkan will take the helm as the new Senior School Assistant Principal. Doruk has a proven track record of excellence; he has built very good relationships with students which he has fostered as an English teacher and through his role as IBDP coordinator. He has great plans to further enhance the Senior School. I am looking forward to working with him and the other divisional principals to further advance SSIS. I’m confident the Senior School is in very good hands.

I want to thank you for all your support and kind wishes. Enjoy a well deserved summer vacation and I trust your children will come back renewed and excited for the 2018/19 academic year.

Warm regards,

Terry Senior
MH Campus Principal
